At the end of February and beginning of March 2026, the Heldenbergen Choir Association performed two additional concerts entitled ‘ABBA – A Best of’. The venues were the Holy Spirit Church in Schöneck-Büdesheim and St. Boniface Church in Karben.

Choir director Pascal Franke conducted the choir, while Frankfurt pianist Utku Asan provided professional accompaniment on the piano. Bettina Jost-Döring, first chairwoman of the Heldenbergen Choir Association, welcomed the audience and thanked the two church congregations in advance for their tremendous support. Ulrike Buxmann, the association's second chairwoman, guided the audience through the programme with interesting stories about the individual songs.

The Heldenbergen choir created a relaxed and exuberant atmosphere with their performances. The audience clearly enjoyed the 90-minute musical variety show. As a welcome contrast to the current challenges of everyday life, the performance was honoured at the end with a long standing ovation and loud calls for encores. A special highlight of the evening was the performance by 13-year-old Aaron Dönges. His interpretation of the ABBA classic “Super Trouper” on the church organ earned him thunderous applause and proved how modern the traditional instrument can sound.

The choir bid farewell with the hit ‘Thank You for the Music’ and the audience sang along heartily under the direction of Pascal Franke.

Two truly atmospheric evenings that perfectly captured the spirit of the times! The fact that a choir filled the church pews with ABBA classics and even repurposed the organ for ‘Super Trouper’ shows just how vibrant the local cultural scene in Wetterau is.

The choir rehearses every Monday between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The rehearsal room is located in the Hessischer Hof (Galini restaurant) at Friedberger Straße 27 in Nidderau-Heldenbergen.
